Summer in Berwang
In spring, autumn, and summer, it's wonderful to enjoy Berwang and its surroundings. The beautiful nature, flower meadows, crystal-clear mountain lakes, waterfalls, and imposing mountain peaks. Despite the tranquility, you are right in the middle of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. With countless possibilities for a varied summer holiday. Hundreds of kilometers of hiking trails and mountain climbs, mountain bike tours and single trails, but also water sports and action adventures ensure that you won't get bored.
The cable cars of Berwang - the Berwanger Sonnalmbahn and the Almkopfbahn Bichlbach - will take you to beautiful viewpoints in summer, such as the Hochalm, a wonderful area for hikers, cyclists and paragliders. From here you can continue hiking to the Almkopf and enjoy a magnificent view of the Zugspitze massif and the Lechtaler Alps.
Family Vacation
Berwang is the ideal starting point for numerous family-friendly summer activities. Hiking trails and experience trails (naturerlibnissweg Mitteregg). Or a digital experience hike wandeling. In Bichlbach, you can do fun activities such as climbing, flying fox, kids' rafting, and minigolf at the sport- und freizeitpark.
And from Berwang with the mountain coaster down for a beautiful ride along brooks and waterfalls.
The steps are waiting for you at the valley stations of the Almkopfbahn in Bichlbach and the Sonnalmbahn in Berwang. The lift takes you up the mountain and then you're off! Enjoy a beautiful ride for young and old along the mountain path downhill with the step. Small children can join you on the tandem step.
Bärenbad swimming pool Berwang
Berwang has its own outdoor pool with a sunbathing lawn in the middle of the forest with a mini golf course, bouncy castle, playground, volleyball and football field, tennis courts and a kiosk, the Bärenbad Berwang! When you stay at Chalet Zur Rose, you have free access to the pool with your guest card. There is also a beautiful playground for children next to the pool, which is freely accessible.
Sledding, Mountain Carts, and Roller Coasters
In Biberwier, you can experience a number of fun sports activities with the whole family. A 7.5 km long descent with a mountain cart or monster roller. Or sledding on the longest summer sled run in Tyrol.
Hiking
Around Berwang, embedded in a sunny valley between the Lechtal Alps, you will discover all kinds of different hiking trails. Trails suitable for a stroller, trails to beautiful viewpoints, adventurous circular hiking trails, family hiking trails and spectacular mountain paths ensure that hiking in the Alps becomes an experience! A beautiful trip is the Rotlechkloof, which is only a short walk from Chalet Zur Rose. From the viewing platform you can admire the Rotlech waterfall.
How about the Thaneller, 2,341 meters above sea level? High above Heiterwang, the Thaneller reigns with a beautiful view over Berwang and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Heiterwangersee. The Thaneller can be climbed as a hike or trail run for mountain sports enthusiasts!
Also visit Almdorf Fallerschein. With more than 40 rustic mountain huts, it is the largest mountain village in Tyrol.
The Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena is rightly an extremely popular region among hikers, mountaineers and climbers. Conquering the famous Zugspitze at 2,962 meters is for many mountain lovers the ultimate feeling.
Bicycles
In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, a cyclist's paradise awaits, offering an impressive choice of routes to suit every taste. Berwang, Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier provide the greatest variety of routes, but the entire region enchants with picturesque gravel bike tours and bike paths, as well as challenging MTB routes. In Berwang at the Sportalm, it is possible to rent bikes and equipment. Recommended are 'Um den Daniel' and 'Zugspitze 8'.
Meren
We are also surrounded by beautiful lakes, the most famous being the Heiterwangersee. Here you will find everything. Beach, boat trips, boat rental, fishing, stand-up paddling and of course swimming and bathing in the turquoise water with a fantastic panorama. But the Plansee, Blindsee, Mittersee and Weissensee are also worth a visit. And don't forget the breathtaking mountain lakes Seebensee and Drachensee.
Golf
The golfers among you can go to Ehrwald (9 holes) or to one of the other courses in the immediate vicinity.
Other highlights
the 'Highline 179 with 406 meters in length and 115 meters in height was until recently the longest suspension bridge in the world. Who dares?
The Ehrenberg Fortress World with 4 castles and fortifications from the 14th to the 18th century. Interesting for history lovers but also for children due to the knight's museum and the treasure hunt.
In about a half-hour drive, you'll find Schloss Neuschwanstein. Voted one of the most beautiful castles in the world. The castle on which Walt Disney based his Sleeping Beauty castle.
The Partnachkloof and the Höllentalklamm are beautiful gorges to hike. Check in advance if they are open.
In the immediate vicinity of Berwang, the cities of Füssen, Kempten and Garmisch Partenkirchen are worth a visit.
